The Army Painter Quickshade Dip, Strong Tone – The Magical Dip That Revolutionizes Miniature Painting
Introducing The Army Painter Quickshade Dip, Strong Tone, a product that will revolutionize the world of miniature painting.
Making the complex shading process incredibly easy, this revolutionary product will breathe new life into your miniature collection.
The appeal of Quickshade Dip
Quickshade Dip is a unique product unlike any other on the market, designed specifically for 10-28mm miniatures. While traditional miniature painting requires two separate processes—filling in and shading (washing)—this product allows you to accomplish both in one go. Strong Tone uses a deep brown pigment to create deep, flawless shading on your miniatures. While the Quickshade series also includes Soft Tone and Dark Tone, Strong Tone is the most popular product due to its versatility. It pairs particularly well with red, desert yellow, and green base colors, so if you're unsure which one to choose, we recommend starting with Strong Tone.
How to use - 4 easy steps
Using Quickshade Dip is incredibly simple: spray, paint, dip, and you'll achieve stunning, professional-looking results in just four steps.
-
Preparing the base
First, apply a coat of primer to the miniature. -
Base color painting
Paint each part of the miniature with water-based acrylic paint.
We recommend paints specifically for miniatures, such as Citadel Colors or Vallejo. -
Apply Quickshade
Once your base color is completely dry, apply your Quickshade in one of two ways:
-
Dip Method: Dip miniature completely into Quickshade, then shake to remove excess liquid.
We recommend doing this method outdoors or in a place where it doesn't matter if it gets dirty. -
Brush painting: For larger miniatures or smaller details, you can use an old brush you no longer use.
Again, apply a generous amount first and then work your way up to removing any excess.
-
Dip Method: Dip miniature completely into Quickshade, then shake to remove excess liquid.
-
Drying
Allow to dry completely for 24-48 hours and it's done.
It leaves a glossy finish, but if you prefer a more natural matte finish, you can easily adjust it with a spritz of Anti-Shine Matt Varnish.
Quickshade Dip effect
The greatest thing about Quickshade Dip is the amazing results it produces. It flows effortlessly into the contours of your miniatures, highlighting the fine details while leaving the rest of the painting a subtle, natural-looking shade. This gives your miniatures a three-dimensional appearance, giving them that "just ran off the battlefield" look. If you're painting a large number of miniatures at once, such as Warhammer Space Marines, fantasy warriors, or historical models, this product is a huge time-saver. Instead of spending hours shading each character individually, you can achieve an incredibly high-quality finish in one go.
Quickshade Dip is not just a paint, it also acts as a protective varnish, making the miniatures more durable after painting. This protective effect is a major benefit for miniatures that will actually be used in games.
Precautions
Because Quickshade Dip is an oil-based product, there are a few things to keep in mind when using it:
- Use mineral turpentine to clean brushes and clothes, or to dilute. Water will not remove.
- Use in a well-ventilated area, ideally outdoors or in a well-ventilated room.
- It may cause drowsiness or dizziness, so be sure to get plenty of rest after working.
- Keep out of reach of children.
A new world of miniature painting
Whether you're familiar with basic painting techniques using water-based acrylic paints, want to efficiently paint a large number of miniatures, or are a beginner unsure of your shading skills, Quickshade Dip opens up new possibilities for hobbyists of all levels. Even compared to the latest brush-on dye paints such as Citadel Contrast, Quickshade Dip's unique deep shading and gloss, as well as its ease of use, continue to fascinate many miniature painters.
For those who want to experience the joy of miniature painting more easily and with higher quality, The Army Painter Quickshade Dip, Strong Tone is the perfect choice. Try this revolutionary product that will add a new dimension of charm to your miniature collection.
