Turn A Gundam Collection 1 Blu-ray "Turn A Gundam" is a historic anime series that was broadcast in 1999 and was created by director Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of the Gundam series. The story unfolds in a timeline called "Collect Century (CC)," a unique worldview that sets it apart from other Gundam works.

Setting and summary of the story

The story is set in the future, when the Moonrace, a human race that has lived on the Moon for 2,000 years, prepares to return to Earth. The protagonist, Laurent Cehack, is sent to Earth on a reconnaissance mission with his companions Keith and Fran to investigate the Earth's environment. After a year on Earth, Laurent becomes close friends with the daughters of the prestigious Heim family, Sochie and Kihel, and looks forward to fully integrating into Earth society. However, before he has a chance to report back, the Moonrace suddenly launch an attack on Earth. Earth's primitive aircraft are no match for the Moonrace's superior mobile suits. During the initial attack, Laurent and Sochie discover a long-forgotten relic: a white mobile suit called the "∀ Gundam." As a Moonrace, Laurent quickly learns the basics of piloting it, but in doing so, he unwillingly finds himself at the center of the war.

Unique world view and design

A major feature of "Turn A Gundam" is its incorporation of steampunk elements, which sets it apart from previous Gundam series. The contrast between Earth's steam-powered civilization and the Moonrace's advanced scientific technology is what makes the series so appealing. The design of the mobile suits is also distinctive, and the unique silhouette of "Turn A Gundam" is beloved by many fans.

Deep themes

This work goes beyond a simple war story, weaving in themes that make you ponder the possibilities of exchange and coexistence between different civilizations, as well as the past and future of humanity. Sprinkled throughout are philosophical questions unique to director Yoshiyuki Tomino, giving it a depth that will make you want to watch it again and again.
