"Tetsujin 28: The Moon in the Afternoon" Blu-ray/DVD

A Showa-era masterpiece brought back to life in modern times, an inspiring mecha animation
"Tetsujin 28" is a timeless classic set in post-war Japan during the reconstruction period, depicting the bond between a boy and a giant robot.
The animated film "Tetsujin 28-go: Lingering Moon in the Daylight," released in 2007, is a masterpiece produced by Palm Studio under the direction of Imagawa Yasuhiro, based on the original work by Yokoyama Mitsuteru.
A new story unfolds in Japan 10 years after the end of World War II.

The setting of the story and the main characters

The story is set in Japan in the 1950s.
Young detective Kaneda Shotaro pilots a 15-meter-tall giant robot called "Tetsujin 28-go," inherited from his late father, a genius scientist, and throws himself into solving numerous mysteries and fighting crime.
The role of Kaneda Shotaro will be played by Hisami Takako.
Other talented voice actors who bring the story to life include Inaba Minoru as Chief Otsuka, Ishizuka Rie as Takamizawa Ahiru, and Wakamoto Norio as Murasame Ryusaku.

A shocking development and the mysterious "Zangetsu"

One day, Shotaro learns a shocking truth: his father has adopted another boy named "Shotaro" besides him.
This "older brother," Shotaro, a demobilized soldier, was able to control Tetsujin 28 more skillfully than his younger brother.
At the same time as his brother appears, a mysterious assassin named "Morning Moon" begins targeting Shotaro.
Zangetsu believes that Shotaro is not qualified to operate a robot and tries to take the boy's life.
The situation becomes even more complicated when "ruin bombs" planted by the brothers' father himself are discovered all over Tokyo.
This terrifying bomb was harmless to living things (except plants), but had the power to destroy man-made structures over a wide area.
The young Shotaro faces the crisis facing Tokyo while struggling with his relationship with his suddenly appearing "older brother" and his own identity.
Over the course of its 95-minute running time, the story unfolds as a masterpiece of mecha anime, beautifully blending elements of action, adventure, and science fiction.

A worldview woven together by music and video

The film's music was composed by Akira Ifukube and is an important element in heightening the tension and emotion of the story.
Additionally, the opening theme "Susume Shotaro" and the ending theme "Tetsujin 28-go" are performed by the Roppongi Men's Choir.
The insert songs "The Last Train with the Red Lamp" and "Otomi-san" were sung by Hachiro Kasuga, and these songs also add color to the historical background and unique worldview of the work.
Visually, the film beautifully blends a unique retro atmosphere set in 1950s Japan with profound storytelling.
The film carefully depicts the streets of Tokyo during the post-war reconstruction period and the lifestyle of the time, creating a work that evokes a historical background.

A must-see masterpiece for robot anime fans

"Tetsujin 28-go: Lingering Moon in the Daylight" is a classic animated film that combines nostalgia with freshness.
This is a recommended work not only for fans of Mitsuteru Yokoyama's original work, but also for those interested in mecha and robot anime, and those who want to learn about the history of classic Japanese animation.
Set in the historical context of post-war Japan, the story depicts the bond between a boy and a giant robot, and raises the question of identity: "Who is the real Shotaro?"
Furthermore, this work depicts the light and shadow brought about by scientific progress, and has a deeper theme that goes beyond the scope of a simple robot anime.
"Tetsujin 28-go: Lingering Moon in the Daylight" is a classic Showa-era character brought back to life using modern animation technology.
Enjoy this nostalgic yet new experience in the comfort of your own home.
