GIPF, the highly acclaimed strategic board game at the core of Project GIPF, is a two-player abstract game that is simple yet possesses deep strategic depth.
Game Features
- Number of players: 2
- Duration: 30-60 minutes
- Ages: 9 and up
- A full-scale competitive game played on a hexagonal board with 18 black and white pieces
How to play the game
The beautiful hexagonal game board has 37 intersections, and pieces are placed from the 24 outer dots.
Players take turns manipulating pieces of their color on the board, aiming to line up four pieces in a row.
If you get four in a row, all pieces connected to that row are removed from the board, your pieces become reusable, but your opponent's pieces are removed from the game.
Strategic bargaining
In the standard rules, in addition to the regular pieces, "GIPF pieces" (two pieces stacked on top of each other) are used.
The use of these GIPF pieces is a key factor in determining victory or defeat, adding even more depth to the game.
You lose if your opponent runs out of spare pieces or loses all of their GIPF pieces.
Highly scalable
By introducing additional pieces called "potentials," you can further expand the range of strategies.
You can also combine it with other Project GIPF games (TZAAR, Z-RTZ, DVONN, etc.) to enjoy even more complex and engaging gameplay.
